AI for law firms

How Nidrosoft audits a law firm: intake, the matter file, and the follow-up a person still sends. Book a free audit.

Nidrosoft Team

AI for law firms at Nidrosoft means sitting in the intake queue, the matter file, and the follow-up a person still sends. We do not draft advice, file a pleading, or talk to a client as if we were counsel. The audit maps hours. The build, if there is one, stays inside the tools the firm already pays for.

Written by Cyriac Zeh, founder of Nidrosoft. 12+ years shipping products. Also on LinkedIn.

Key takeaways

  • We start with intake, the docket, and the message that never left drafts.
  • The method is Embed, Diagnose, Scope, Build, Own. Same sequence as how we work.
  • A person still accepts anything that becomes a client communication or a filing.
  • We will decline auto-send to clients and any write into a court system.
  • Book a free audit if a partner can grant folder or practice-management read access.

Where the hours sit

A small firm still runs on a phone, an inbox, and a matter number. Someone takes the first call. Someone opens a file in Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, or a shared Drive folder named after the client. Someone promises a follow-up and then spends the afternoon in a hearing. The new matter sits as a voicemail and a PDF.

That is the work we watch. Not a vision of an AI lawyer. The hours are intake, conflicts notes, the first draft of a status email, and the reminder that a document is due. Partners already know which of those jobs repeats. They disagree about which one burns the week.

What we sit in

We ask for the practice management system, the shared inbox, and one redacted matter folder. Embed means we watch a real Tuesday. Diagnose means we cost the repeating loops. We do not need a pitch about the future of legal tech. We need the queue that already hurts.

Public systems on this site that sit next to document work include NanoBrief for structured briefs and Scanlify when cards and contacts pile up after events. Neither is a case management system. We will not describe them as one.

The audit

Two weeks. We sit with the person who answers the phone and the person who opens the file. We write down the system of record, the operator, the inheritor, and the human gates. If inheritor is blank, the map says seats or wait, not a custom agent.

The packet at the end is a ranked list. Hours on intake. Hours on follow-up. Hours on assembling a first draft from a folder. Feasibility. Payback. The first line might be “hold the welcome email until conflicts is checked.” The first line might be “hire a receptionist, not us.” Both are honest leftovers.

What we identify

We look for workflows that already have a form: a new-matter sheet, a status template, a document checklist. Those are the ones a model can draft. Open-ended legal judgment is not a workflow. It is the partner’s job.

A useful first system drafts the intake record and flags missing fields. A person still accepts the file before it becomes the matter. A useful second system drafts a status note from the last three emails. Send stays on the associate or the partner.

What we will not do

We will not send mail to a client without a person. We will not file. We will not give legal advice. We will not train on privileged files you cannot share. If counsel needs a DPA before we see a matter, say that in the first email to cyriac@nidrosoft.com.

A request for a keynote on the future of law with no folder access gets a no. A request for ChatGPT seats and a policy PDF only is training, not this page. Buy corporate AI training if the room is the leftover.

How Nidrosoft handles this

Same sequence as every other industry. Embed in the inbox and the PMS. Diagnose the hours. Scope one queue. Build only if a person will own send. Own means the firm can run the draft after we leave San Diego.

Nidrosoft has shipped 125 products and keeps 16 public. None of those 16 is a law-firm OS. The number that matters for you is whether Monday’s intake is filed before the first hearing.

Frequently asked questions

Do you replace a paralegal? No. We cut the retyping and the blank follow-up. The paralegal still owns the file. If the leftover is “we need another person on the phone,” we write that.

Which systems do you work in? The one you already pay for. Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, Outlook, Gmail, a Drive folder. We do not sell a Nidrosoft matter system.

Can you work outside San Diego? Yes. The studio is in San Diego. The work happens in your tenant. Southern California firms can ask for on-site days. Everyone else should expect remote embed plus planned travel.

What do we send to start? A redacted intake form, a week of ticket or email tags, and the name of the person who can approve a send. Book a free audit.

The leftover

Law firm work is a queue with a privilege rule. We map the queue. We leave the privilege rule in a human’s hands. If that is the job you want done, write cyriac@nidrosoft.com or use the calendar on contact.
